Welcome - Dave Milliken

Welcome - BATC

Verne Larsen - Utah State Divison of Substance Abuse and Mental Health
Youth are exposed to a variety of negative behaviors in the world in which they live. These negative influences can chip away at the resilient shell of youth. This presentation will focus on how adults can be part of the prevention system in helping youth develop positive assets as they journey their river of life.

Ben Hart - Govenor's Office of Economic Development
In his State of the State address in January, Gov. Herbert announced Talent Ready Utah to help fill 40,000 new high-skill, high-paying jobs over the next four years. Industry leaders in aerospace manufacturing, diesel tech and life science have led the way in creating innovative work-based learning programs that connect high school students with education pathways to good, high-paying jobs - Utah's Pathways programs. Learn how Talent Ready Utah is building on this momentum and explore opportunities for your CTE program.

Building Industry Partnerships
We want to build great, authentic learning experiences for our students and know that connecting to industry can help us with that.  Industry partners want early dibs on top notch employees, and know that connecting to education can accomplish that.  Problem is that both parties speak different languages and generally suck at facilitating those connections.  This presentation will provide you with methods for building these partnerships in your classroom, school and district. No treats will be provided, but you will be awarded bonus points if you bring a Mtn Dew for the presenter.
